Turkey is for Thanksgiving, chestnuts and candy canes are for Christmas, chocolates are for Valentine's Day, but what do you serve in a bridal shower? If you're in the same predicament, here are several food ideas for you to consider:

1. Always serve finger foods because these allow guests to eat as much as they want and as quickly as they could anywhere and anytime during the party. It also allows them to eat even while participating in the activities for the day.

2. In consideration to your guests, stay away from food that are particularly messy to eat like tacos or burgers.

3. Make sure that you serve at least one kind of dish for every food group to ensure that your guests whether they're vegetarian or something else will have something to eat.

4. Avoid serving heavy meals during bridal showers because a full stomach usually makes a person disinclined to move aboutwhich isn't good at all for this kind of event.

5. Place labels and brief description on dishes especially if they're exotic or foreign.

6. Even if you're serving finger foods only, always provide your guests with the appropriate utensils like forks, spoons, knives or even chopsticks. Leave it to them to determine how they wish to eat.

7. Prepare the food at least three hours before the scheduled event if you're planning to cook everything by yourself. Afterwards, chill what needs chilling or set aside those that are better served fresh and hot. Take them out from the kitchen if at least a third of your guests have already arrived. Microwave dishes that have already cooled too much.

8. Have lots of tissues handy because a lot of things can happen both good and bad during bridal showers.

9. To lower costs further, consider serving food that you can safely refrigerate and eat later on when there are leftovers.
