Right Way To Wash Your Hair - Hair Washing Tips

People all over the world attach a lot of importance to hair. Hair is a remarkably tough material but over time abuse can wreak havoc with its natural properties. Hair plays a major part in defining the personality of any human being. Hair is composed primarily of proteins (88%). These proteins are of a hard fibrous type known as keratin. Keratin protein is comprised of what we call "polypeptide chains. Hair normally has a moisture content of approximately 10%. Hair care is an overall term for parts of hygiene and cosmetology involving the hair on the human head. Hair washing is the cosmetic act of keeping hair clean by washing it with shampoo or other detergent products and water. Hair conditioner may also be used to improve hair's texture and manageability. Two-in-one shampoos, which have both detergent and conditioning components, are now commonly also used as a replacement for shampoo and conditioner. Human head has on an average 100,000 hairs that need looking after. Human hair can be divided into three main types dry hair ,greasy / fine hair and normal hair.

Dry hair often gets frizzy, entangled and is prone to split ends. Combing becomes a lot more difficult. Dandruff is another problem. Dry hair may result from too much washing, harsh detergents, a dry environment, inadequate diet, or underlying conditions, such as those due to malnutrition. Dry, brittle hair may be a symptom of metabolic diseases such as hypothyroidism and Menkes kinky hair syndrome. Dry hair is often caused by too much time in the sun, chlorine, salt water, over-shampooing, permanents, heat styling, or neglect. This kind of hair is difficult to style. This hair requires more frequent washing than other hair types. Washing hair with the right type of shampoo will help ease this problem. Normal hair looks healthy and does not remain greasy or dry all the while. Women in particular look at bountiful hair as one of the attributes of beauty. The bounce in your hair can be felt in your stride too. Many women lament that good hair days are rare and most often it is a battle of wits to get the hair looking good.

Healthy, silky hair is something we all want. Washing hair is an essential part of the hair care routine. Wash your hair by letting it hang naturally as you stand under the shower. Carefully rinse your hair with warm water to get it ready for shampooing. A tablespoon shampoo should be sufficient for long hair and a proportionate amount for short hair. Apply on the surface of the scalp, when use lose all of the shampoo from the palm put the fingers inside the hair and not massage till you get that soupy effect. Dont rub or pull out your hair. Once you are done wait for 2 3 minutes and risen off well with water. Let water run through your hair while rinsing and continue stroking your hair in the downward direction. Rinse hair completely and check the hair lines for remnant shampoo lather. Do not to stroke the wet hair roughly as it is prone to damage at this stage. It is purely a personal decision on the number of times you want to wash your hair. It is believed that our ancestors seldom washed their hair, but with todays pollution and grime we can hardly think of following that dictum.

Hair Washing Tips

1. Start shampooing from the nape of your neck and then into your scalp.

2. Using a comb to distribute the conditioner is a great idea.

3. Blot the water from your hair into a towel and do not rub as it is very weak when wet.

4. Do not wrap your hair in a towel over a head for a long time; this will cause damage to the root of the hair.

5. Try and avoid blow drying your hair as much as possible.

6. Avoid using a blow dryer. Let your hair air-dry.

7. Avoid washing your hair as much as you can, as natural oil is healthy for your hair.

8. Do not comb wet hair, as they damage hair. Massage your hair well.

9. Do not rub the towel, as it may hold fibers damaging your hair.

10. Rinse your hair with hot water to remove dirt and rinse in cold water to make your hair shine and to close the cuticle.

11. Dry the vehicle like you washed it, from the top down.

Tap Into The Supernatural And Get An Edge On Life!

Be careful, don't underestimate the power of the supernatural.

Here it is! Can you handle it? Science knows only 5% of what the Universe consists of. What is the rest of the stuff? 70% is Dark Matter and 25% is Dark Energy. Dont ask what this Dark Energy and Matter consists of. Why? Because nobody knows, yet.

What does this mean or imply to you and me? It means we can imagine and embrace whatever our imaginations and belief systems allow us to believe.

Who me? I am a Futurist/Science Fiction kind of guy. I like wisdom and keeping things simple. My wisdom teachers tell me, If you want to know what the Future is going to be like, then read the comic books. Hey, dont laugh. I cant begin to tell you what things I read as fiction in the comic books of my child hood days, are actual realities today.

Things like rocket ships and going to the moon. (I guess this really dates me.) Longevity, accomplishments in medicine and science, computers-oh yeah, the Internet, you name it.

I am just busting out at my breeches to come out with thiswhat about God and all of the Powers we ascribe to Him, Her, It or Whatever? I am a very positive thinker and an earnest student of human behavior. You talk about Possibility thinking. I love it and eat it up. I also love the magic and excitement of the supernatural.

I am a strong advocate of spirituality. By this statement, I mean I enjoy studying subjects about spirituality-religion, the power of the subconscious, the psychic world and science, yes, and even martial arts. You will find aspects of martial arts that are very spiritual. Yes, and even magical. This is one of the reasons I stuck with Tae Kwon Do and got a 2nd Degree Black Belt!

History shows us that mankind has always been fascinated with the occult. Why? Because, human beings have always desired to have dominion over their environment, from the cavemen to the modern day astronaut.

Martial Artists from early history days, desired to develop god-like powers over their surroundings. This, indirectly, was a big reason martial arts was developed. I am referring to some Asian Cultures, like Japan, Korea, and China.

Are you ready to tap into the Supernatural and get an Edge on life? Or, how about, get a leg up on life? What do I mean about the word, supernatural? Lets avoid a lot of discussion and controversy and stick with the likes of the Webster Dictionary of or relating to an order of existence beyond the visible observable universe. Something that transcends the laws of nature.

You can wiggle God into the definition of Supernatural, very easily. But for the sake of this article, I prefer not to.

We definitely have the worship of God and religion to thank for the exhortations of the Belief Power. In Marcus Borgs book Jesus and Buddha, the Parallel Sayings, you will find some fascinating studies which point to the similarities of Jesuss and Buddhas teachings.

Here is what Jesus had to say about the power of belief and faith and making things happen big time- Truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. Matthew 17.20

Here is what the Buddha said about the same subject, A monk who is skilled in concentration can cut the Himalayas in two. Anguttara Nikaya 6.24

Jesus, Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them. John 20.26

Buddha, He goes unhindered through a wall. Anguttara Nikaya 3.60

Simplicity is a beautiful thing. It is very much under rated in todays society. Strong people of action, that get things done, know this. There is a great deal of merit in KISS. (Keep It Simple Stupid)

Most people will recognize a grain of wisdom in something and then they go on and analyze the heck out of it, until the spark of insight or wisdom they recognized, is served fruitless and impotent. Holy smoke, that sounds like fun! Just kidding. Anyway, I am sure you get the picture.

The point of this article is that we dont have a clue as to what is real or not. Whatever we believe, needs to be taken on faith. The recorded history of man is approximately 5000 years. Thats all. This world has been around billions of years according to men of science. And, the universe has another 30 billion years or so to go. Hows that for a future?

We only have an idea of approximately 5% of what is going on in the Universe. What we call the Supernatural, God or whatever, may have totally new names and or references. I surmised this from the possibility of greater knowledge of the universe as time progresses.

Instead of referring to God or the Supernatural mankind may end up calling it whatever, depending on the properties that are discovered or associated with the supernatural. This may be wishful thinking, like aliens from outer space. But, I seriously doubt it.

Regardless of how analytical or cynical you are, you cant deny the simple power of belief. For example, like it or not, medicine and science has proven that religious people live healthier and longer lives for a host of reasons. Say what you want, these supplicants and worshipers of the Supernatural are laughing all the way to the Grimreaper. Hey, whos to say. If it works, why not? At least until we can come up with something new or different. Right?

Dating Advice - Using the Powers of the Mind

This week I want to talk about the subject of mental focus to help you succeed with single women. Anything you focus your mind on on a consistent basis with all your heart and 100% effort will bring about that which you focus on.

So what do you need to focus on? I'm sure there are areas in your love life that need improvement. Here are some examples to focus on:

  1. Don't have a girlfriend? - focus your mind on finding a girlfriend. Do whatever it takes to meet and find her.
  2. Lonely? - focus your mind on establishing new friendships with the opposite sex. It doesn't have to be a romantic friendship. It can just be a female companion to just hang out with.
  3. Horny? - we all know what spells relief for this problem. Focus your mind on finding a woman to solve this problem.

These are just a few examples. I'm sure you can think of other dating problems that you need to solve by focusing on their solutions.

The power of using positive mental focus can do wonders in improving your dating and love life. Negative mental focus can do lots of harm to you succeeding with single women. Here's a couple of negative examples that bring you setbacks in your pursuit of single women for love, romance, and relationships:

  1. You keep focusing on why your love life is not working.
  2. You focus on having bad luck with women and why is this happening to me?

What's bad about the above examples is that if you focus on them enough this is what you will experience. You will create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So, what you want to be sure and do is have positive mental focus to bring about the positive changes you want in your love life.

Totally focus on the positive changes and actions you are going to take to find love and romance.

Totally consume your mind with thoughts of finding someone special. Before you know it that person will suddenly appear out of nowhere. We tend to attract the things that we constantly focus on.

In closing, try this system of intense focusing to help you succeed with single women beyond your wildest dreams.

New Hair Styles for 2005 - Summer Hair Trend

A variety of hair styles, colors, and trends are growing in popularity for 2005. New hair styles for 2005 include hair of varying lengths, from curly and wavy to sleek and straight. Some of the old standbys from 2004 are still going to be popular in 2005.

The straight look is still in. The messy look and the shabby chic look are also still going strong. The soft wavy look is one new addition to the in list that has been growing in popularity this season.

This season, one of the hottest looks is a short cut. Not just any short cut though. The newest version of the short hair cut is longer layers and fringe in the front with the back cut in shorter, softer layers. The great thing about this style is that, even though it is short, you still have a variety of options when styling it. It can be worn straight and smooth for a more sophisticated look. If a more youthful and fun look is in the cards for your day, simply tousle the layers for a more wind blown, wavy look.

Your hairs texture is also an important part of the cut and style. Layers and soft edges give a cut the versatility that it needs to hold more than one style. Razor cutting is a terrific way to accomplish the flipped, wild look that celebrities like Meg Ryan wear. Using sculpting gels and waxes can give you a chunky layer look that separates and holds your layers in place. For a smoother, sleek look, layers can be blown dry to lay flat and soft against the face. Smoothing gels can help to keep hair smooth and free from frizz for hours at a time.

Although cut and texture are an important part of having a trendy, up to date short hair style, maintaining shiny, healthy hair is always a must.

Whether you wear your hair curly, wavy, or straight, a healthy shine is your hairs best accessory. For this season, a product that adds shine to your hair is a must have.

To maintain a trendy and fashionable look for this season, color is the key. In Eastern cultures, hair color choice is not just a statement about our fashion savvy, but also is essential in showing our inner self and desires. Since red symbolizes strength and vitality, it is not such a surprise that most women today would pick red as their first choice of hair colors.

Red certainly is a trend this season, and that means all shades. Anything goes from burgundy to strawberry blonde on into the copper hues.

As a matter of fact, reds are beginning to replace blonde as the most popular hair color choice.

Color highlights have been popular for while and will continue to be popular this season. This type of hair coloring works particularly well on the layered, shorter haircuts. So, go ahead. Try whatever floats your boat. As I said before, this season, anything goes!

Mean Girls + The Teen Brain & Decision Making!

I attended a conference called the Brain Institute in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Baird was one of the keynote speakers. I've condensed her information so that it is enjoyable and understandable. Dr. Abigail Baird Ph.D. is a developmental neuroscientist at Vassar College where she is Assistant Professor and Director of the Laboratory for Adolescent Studies in the Department of Psychology.

This will be a bit complex, but really is fascinating if you will follow along. So, here we go.

Let's look at a brief overview of a few areas of the brain & behavior:

1) Amygdala ~ The brain's "burglar alarm". It is responsible for the Four F's

  • Feeding
  • Fighting
  • Fleeing
  • and Sex
2) Frontal Cortex ~ "The Conductor" This part of the brain is located at the top, front of our skull and is responsible for orchestrating behavior and problem solving. Just like a music Conductor orchestrates the tempo, slow, soft, loud, who comes in when; this part of the brain orchestrates behavior & problem solving.

3) Insula ~ Is deep inside the brain and is responsible for one trial learning. This is the area of the brain that will retain sense, gut memories of food poisoning for example. If you've ever had bad food poisoning even thinking about the event can make you feel sick and chances are good, you've avoided that specific food, manner of cooking or restaurant for the rest of your life. Another example is if you stole something as a child and were incapacitated by guilt until you confessed. Even today you can feel that sick feeling. You will have a visceral, gut, sometimes guilt feeling. The insula's message is "You'll never do that again!" Now, here's where it gets fun. Dr. Baird conducted a simple study using adults in one group and teens in another test group. She had the examiners ask one simple question after every example: Is this a good idea or is this a bad idea?

  • Is swimming with sharks a good idea or bad idea?
  • Is lighting your hair on fire a good idea or bad idea?
  • Is jumping off a roof a good idea or bad idea?
  • Is getting in a lion cage a good idea or bad idea?
  • Is brushing your teeth a good idea or bad idea?
  • Is getting enough sleep a good idea or a bad idea?
You have the idea of the line of questioning. Here are the results. Adults answered without hesitation that it was a bad idea on all questions regarding danger. Teens, however, had a significant delay in answering that it was a bad idea on the questions that offered danger. Even though it was only a matter of seconds, it can make the difference in real life between dead and alive!

Additionally, brain scans showed that the teen's brains showed uncoordinated frontal lobe activity and little to no activity in the amygadala or insula. They had no alarm system!!!

My experience has verified this. I assumed from a spiritual point of view we all had that intuition or gut sense of things. In one of my counseling sessions a 17 year old teen I'll call Matt (I've changed his name) had a "friend" who brought a baggie of drugs to school. The friend asked my client to simply sell the bag full of pills to the students on a list that he provided. My client did just that, got caught and was suspended for the semester to an alternative school.

In family counseling I asked if he had any warning signs, gut reaction, feeling that this could be a mistake. "No, not really. I just figured that my friend knew these people and it was no big deal," Matt replied. I asked if he thought about being caught. "No, I didn't think I'd be caught." I inquired in as many directions as I could for about 5 minutes about any internal warning signs, thought of consequences, feeling this was wrong. Matt still didn't think it was a big deal and mainly felt bad because he couldn't go back to his school.

His parents thought they'd raised a child without a conscience. Since I know a few things about brain development, I reassured them that the frontal lobe orchestration would mature (by about 25 for males and 20-23 for females).

So, when is adulthood? From a neuroscience point of view we can say adulthood is when:

  • The gut sense of good idea/bad idea, warning, safety is automatic.
  • The presence of consistent planning, behavior, follow through, problem solving and coordination of the frontal lobes with other parts of the brain are permanent.
Think about this when you look at the following:
  • 16 ~ You Can Drive.
  • 17 ~ Age of Consent
  • 18 ~ Age of Majority
  • 21 ~ Purchase Alcohol
  • 25 ~ Rent a Car
Here are a few other random, but interesting facts that Dr. Baird brought to the conference.
  • Once girls begin menstruation their brains are flooded with estrogen which makes them both socially & academically smarter then boys their age (better problem solving and better brain coordination).
  • Mean Girls - Accelerate their behavior when any attention is given to them, including punishment
  • An effective way to handle the Mean Girl situation is to take a group of girls who have been affected by the Mean Girl and offer group social support, breathing techniques, yoga and strategies to handle the situation and awareness of when the Mean Girl targets others. This only is effective if the girls have started their period! Prior to that time, the girls either don't remember to use the strategies or simply can't use the strategies.
  • If the Mean Girls travel in a group the school must separate them by placing each girl in different classrooms and different lunches.
  • Everyone, including adults, face relational aggression i.e. Mean Girls. Learning to control your own feelings and have strategies leads to a sense of personal power.
  • The biggest predictor of suicide among girls is loss of friendship: of boys it's change of school if they fit in well in their current school.
  • Seniors in High school have abstract worries that run deep. Some of their reactivity is plain fear and insecurity.
  • A lot of bad behavior comes from uncertainty.
  • Emotional Affect remains stable across time. If one of your children was cranky, threw a lot of tantrums, yelled and stomped around they'll do the same as a teen. It's not that the affect is worse, it's just they're bigger, have more words and choice of behaviors. If your child was mellow, cuddly, and let things roll off their back, they'll have a similar teen temperament.
  • Two things we know for sure regarding the brain & school systems: 1) Teach foreign languages early NOT in high school. The brain is receptive in early years and language is learned almost effortlessly when we are young. and 2) Reduce the number of students per class to 15 or less. Emotion drives behavior. If young people don't feel emotionally connected or believe their teachers care about them; behavior problems increase, focus decreases and learning is more difficult.

Herbal Detox Will Boost Your System

Toxins are in everything and we may not even know it. They are all around in the food that we eat every day and the water we are drinking, and also in the air we are breathing in. These contaminants are on our skin from many other things. You need to stop and think about your body and how it is hit each day with all of these problems. Can you say that it is strong enough to handle it?

The min idea is that our body breaks down all these things to use so that it works in the right way. When the chemicals get into the body, it lets off a natural reaction to separate the junk from the good stuff so that it can not harm the body. The problem is that some of these nasty things can actually get into youth blood and become part of the cells in the body. Some of the toxins are gotten rid of in the urine and when you sweat or in your bowel movements. This makes it easy for the body to help to keep themselves cleans and healthy.

Many scientists are trying to figure out what the correlation is between the cells and the toxins that will make them go crazy and create cancer cells. All the professionals are in agreement that the phytochemicals that are found in many of the herbs will also aid the body in getting rid of toxins. This is the main idea behind an herbal detox. There are many different ways to provide the body with a detoxification and they also help with many different things. When you detoxify the body, you clean the body from bad chemicals that make you feel bad, tired, that cause you to be obese, have a slow digestive system, have problems with allergies, problems breathing, and other problems with your health.

Detoxing your body with the help of herbal supplements will give your kidneys, liver, intestines, and lungs and healthier time and give them a chance to work the way they should.

Some of the herbs that you can use to clean your body are the psyllium seed, fibrous seed that gives you a heavy feeling in your stomach and acts like a laxative for you. This is one of the best things you can choose to help with your body detoxification because it is able to pull the toxins to it and grab them in.

To get better function from the liver, milk thistle will help. This herb is an antioxidant that will help the body to get rid of the bad things in the body. Nettle will help the body rid itself of water and also the other plant parts that will help to detoxify the body parts. Burdock root and the seeds also do about the same thing but it is a stronger type of herb and it is a good thing to help wash the body of the toxins that have gathered there. Dandelion root is great for cleaning the liver. It helps the body to get rid of the waste products and works well for the treatment of the kidneys,

You will find more than one type of detoxification program available. The one you pick for yourself should only clean the body of the bad things and only that and nothing else. It only works when the body is cleaned from the gathering of waste products and radicals that will stop you from having the energy that you need.

Five Easy Ways to Avoid the Flu This Winter

Many people wonder how they can stay well this winter, considering the onset of the flu season and the fear of a possible influenza epidemic. Fortunately, acupuncture and Oriental medicine provide proven steps toward preventing illness and maintaining good health in cold weather.

We hear about so many people catching the flu - but in reality it is only a portion of those exposed to a virus that get sick. Why? According to Oriental medicine's teachings, our bodies get sick when we are in a weakened state. It is only when our immune systems are weakened and our bodies are out of balance that we are vulnerable to sickness.

Acupuncture originated in China between 3,000 and 5,000 years ago. It corrects imbalances in the body's energy systems that cause illness. Practitioners of Oriental medicine identify Qi (pronounced "chee") as the life giving energy that needs to flow freely through the body for good health. Integrated with a wise lifestyle, Oriental medicine can help prevent illness.

Here are Five Tips for Avoiding Illness This Flu Season:

1. Exercise a little bit everyday. Exercise moves the lymphatic system, thereby helping to detoxify the poisons in your body.

2. Keep warm. Make sure your neck and chest are protected from wind, drafts and cold. Use a scarf around your neck when going outside and wear turtle neck shirts or sweaters. The neck is an area where wind can invade the body and cause sickness. The Oriental medical perspective is that wind invasions make people more vulnerable to developing colds and flu. Always keep your feet warm and dry.

3. Get adequate sleep and relaxation. Your body is vulnerable to stress without enough rest. Think about doing some deep breathing exercises to help relax and unwind at the end of the day. Use stress-reduction methods like Qi Gong meditation or yoga.

4. Eat smart. Avoid refined sugars (processed food and baked goods, alcohol, etc.). A diet of refined or simple carbohydrates (white sugar, white bread) raises the body's Ph and allows bacteria, mold, yeast and fungi to thrive. Simple carbohydrates suck up the nutrition your body needs to detoxify, nourish and build new cells and antibodies. This makes you MORE susceptible to illness. Vitalize your nutrition by eating more fresh, organic foods and less processed food. This food has more "Qi" in it.

5. Get Acupuncture. When you get regular acupuncture treatments (as little as once per month) it actually boosts your immune system. Acupuncture strengthen the "Wei Qi" or the protective energy that safeguards us against colds and flu.

Use these Five Tips for Avoiding Illness to keep your body strong and healthy this winter. You can resist illness, the flu or the common cold.
