It is estimated that the average woman will live 30% of her life in the post-menopausal stages. We're surrounded by advertisements that desperately compete for our attention. Everywhere we look, we find ourselves inevitably drawn to images of scantily clad attractive men and women that are supposed to somehow inspire us to purchase products they endorse. Sex appeal can increase the effectiveness of an ad or commercial because it attracts the customers attention. Its human nature to be curious about sex. A pair of long legs on a billboard is more likely to catch (and hold) a guys attention than a puppy, regardless of how cute it may be. Even women are drawn to them, perhaps with the desire of having goddess-like legs.

However, misuse of sex appeal can be costly. Many campaigns deemed offensive have started brand boycotts that affect sales and damage brand reputation. Abercrombie & Fitch has been involved in several scandals, the latest from their most recent catalog entitled XXX Wet, Hot Summer Fun. On April 18, 2002, only a week after the catalog hit the stores, the Illinois State Senate passed a resolution condemning A&Fs advertising tactics. This resolution, backed by several nonprofit organizations, suggests citizens and shareholders boycott Abercrombies products and to take a stand against the companys marketing strategies. Although sexy images in catalogs are not at all uncommon, XXX Wet, Hot Summer Fun featured naked boys and girls frolicking in natural settings. Not quite appropriate for an apparel catalog targeted at teenagers.

Sex in advertising has stirred controversy for many years, an advertiser must be careful when incorporating it in a campaign. Great advertisers consider not only the attention-getting power of an advertisement or commercial, but also what kind of emotional response it provokes in customers. Studies show that the attractiveness of the endorsing model provokes positive responses. Nudity and graphic erotic content, while still increasing consumers attention, doesnt really generate positive feelings among viewers. In other words, advertisers must be careful to avoid the cheap shot, which may negatively affect a brands image.

To avoid that, the sexual content in advertising must be appropriate to the product category and have a proper underlying message. In 2000, Heineken launched the Its All About the Beer campaign. One spot, called The Premature Pour, shows a beautiful seductive woman pouring Heineken into a glass. When a guy across the bar responds by pouring his own, he nervously pours too fast and spills foam all over the table and himself. The sexual content is implicit, yet direct. The sexual reference in this and other spots in the campaign worked, causing sales to rise 13% in the first two quarters of 2002. However, Steve Davis (VP of marketing in Heineken USA), claims that, Provocative is a very good place to be, as long as were not inflammatory. But the spots also work for a different reason. From the tag line to the plot, they are about a desire for Heineken. Our ads make the beer the hero.

Sex sells, yes, but only when used in good taste. As marketers we must think not only in getting customers attention for the short term, but also in building a brand reputation that will yield long-term results.

Dallas Cowboy quarterback, the legendary Roger Staubach, contributed greatly to this success when he assumed the full-time quarter-backing duties in the eighth week of the 1971 NFL season. Staubach was known as "Roger The Dodger" for his scrambling abilities, and as "Captain Comeback" for his many fourth quarter heroics. He was one of the most exciting NFL players of the 1970s as he directed his team to many an improbable victory at Texas Stadium and on the road. Staubach led his team to twenty-three come-from-behind victories in the fourth quarter, with 17 of these coming in the last two minutes.

With Staubach at the helm, the Dallas Cowboys became Super Bowl Champions for the first time and he was named most valuable player of Super Bowl VI. Staubach, who played with the Cowboys until 1979, was a 6-time Pro-Bowler and led the Cowboys to their second Super Bowl victory in 1977. Staubach also led the Cowboys to Super Bowl appearances in Super Bowl X and Super Bowl XIII where they lost both times to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Roger Staubach is perhaps most famous for bringing the "Hail Mary pass" into the world of football nomenclature. In a 1975 playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings, with just seconds left on the clock and the Cowboys trailing 14-10, Staubach executed a 50-yard pass to wide receiver Drew Pearson, who caught the pass for a touchdown and a 17-14 victory. After the game, Staubach quipped he prayed a "Hail Mary" before throwing the pass and thus a piece of history was born. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach retired from football in 1979, at the time the highest rated passer ever, and was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the 1985 NFL season. Solomon had this to say to us who suffer. It seems suffering is for us to have more strength. Its fine to praise the Lord in song and worship in church when all is going well, but how are you in the midst of suffering? Is the LORD still LORD of all?

I am one that does not like to give up. Besides if we dont go forward with Jesus where can we go? We have to press on. We just have to.

In the past eight months I have been suffering bad bouts of depression. There has been times I have almost given up. Hard times call for a person with longsuffering and endurance and patience which the LORD is instilling in me. Your divorce can instill these fruits into you.

The LORD God has many promises in the Bible. The Bible is full of them and in times when we are suffering it is good to reflect on them.

24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him,

And the desire of the righteous will be granted.

Here is a scripture of promise for those of you in adversity at the moment. If you are true to God and He is true to His word you will see your desires granted. You just have to have the strength to carry on.

Hope isnt lost when someone serves you with divorce papers. Hope is lost when God stops the sun from shining each day.

The term internet marketing was virtually non-existent a short 8 years ago, now it is a growing phenomenon that is raking millions every year. Cable channels are expanding so quickly it is hard to keep up, soon, we could be surfing over to channel 1430 for the 2010 Chevrolet Series, where we actually sit down and watch a one hour special on Chevys this mode of advertisement would work for a couple of reasons:

- It is highly targeted

Current television advertising (commercials) often get the MUTE button treatment or we get up to get more popcorn, leaving an unknown number of viewers watching the 30 second ad.

- Accepting market

When viewer tune in specifically for a product, your message effectiveness grows exponentially. For example, if you the viewer are not interested in the Home Depot Shed Products advertisement channel, dont watch. For those of you who are interested in home and garden and Do It Yourself, this channel would serve as your personal how-to expert. Home Depot reaches only those interested in their product while maintaining their orange apron image.

Customized Webpages:

On some webpages now, a visitor can change the color and theme of the webpage. This makes for a more enjoyable destination leading to more recurring visitors. Once a user has spent the time to build their own portal, they will return and use that as their primary resource of information (think MSN).

Webpages of the future must be able to support a no two alike mentality. End users must have the option of customizing their content, color, theme, and functionality.

The changes are on the horizon, prepare your business to capture visitors and give them the one-on-one feeling.
