When most people travel to Mexico they want to spend a day shopping and bargaining with the vendors. Bargaining with vendors is an old Mexican tradition, and most vendors considerate a game. Manzanillo offers residents and visitors with many great shopping locations.

For luxury items residents and visitors can travel to one of the areas malls like Plaza Manzanillo. The Plaza Manzanillo offers upscale shopping without the hassle of bargaining. Shopping in the Plaza Manzanillo is different from in the markets because the mall offers brand name products with prices that are non-negotiable. If malls do not interest you then try the outdoor markets in downtown Manzanillo. The outdoor market spans for more than twenty blocks and offers residents and visitors inexpensive custom jewelry and trendy clothes. Also located in Downtown Manzanillo is Las Primaveras. Las Primaveras offers buyers unique pottery and ceramics. Las Primaveres is a two building, two story arts and crafts shop.

If bargaining sounds interesting then visit Miramar Flea Market. Located across from Club Maeva Manzanillo, Miramar Flea Market is a booth style market along the beach. The vendors offer a variety of beach ware including bathing suit, sarongs, and other beach equipment. Along with the beach ware vendors offer many foods that are delicacies in the area. Coconut and tamarind candies are only one type of snack that vendors prepare. The market is known as the silver market of the area. Many vendors sell silver and shell styled jewelry that visitors and residents enjoy.

Every Saturday the nearby town of Santiago hosts a large open air markets. These markets used to be just a local market offering fresh vegetables and fruits, but with the increased tourism in the area the market offer other products such as crafts and merchandise. Covering over twenty blocks, the open air markets offer buyers a variety of products. On Sundays the bordering town of Salagua is taken over by the same open air markets coming from Santiago.

Manzanillo is also very close to Guadalajara, the self-proclaimed arts and crafts capital of Mexico. Guadalajara offers visitors nine different shopping centers and markets. Guadalajara gives shoppers the same variety of malls and open air markets as Manzanillo, but there are many more choices. Guadalajara is a more well-known shopping area, and likely will be more crowded then the Manzanillo area, but Guadalajara gives shoppers another opportunity to spend a day shopping and bargaining in Mexico.
